The following show schedule is the last year we will be doing the Show Circuit.
After 13 wonderful years of meeting new people, exploring new places, and experiencing the joys of an outdoor business, we decided to surrender this turf to younger artists. When I entered the show circuit, the veterans told me that the golden selling years were gone. I would not tell that to the new entrants today for we learned that everything is relative and situational.
In this very public forum, the artist competes with many distractions; weather, local attitudes, show reputation, other artists, and other art forms. And this is a formula for huge successes and huge disappointments and all that happens in between.
I am not, in the least bit, sorry that we engaged in this commercial outlet experience. It has been good to us in many ways: sales, experiences, and follow-on projects. Indeed, if we did not endure a terrible Art Show in Mystic, Conn., we would never have interviewed for The Today Show in Endwell, NY. And I can go on with many similar opportunities. The amplification of the show event can have enormous side benefits. Through it all, Phyllis and I had fun, excitement, and disappointment.
It is time to move on.
